This male woodpecker must be a hard worker, because almost every morning we could hear it pecking and knocking the tree behind our house. The sound of peck, peck, peck and knock, knock, knock, resonance within 1/4 mile of the surrounding. Sometimes I heard it singing trying to lure a mate. It shrilled on the tallest branch without a care of what’s going on down there.
