Serenade to The Irises

I’ve been meaning to tackle some growth in our backyard since we moved to our present home. I pulled and cut some, but they’re still growing to no avail. Then two weeks ago I saw some purple flowers blooming after two years of unwanted growth. It turned out they were the Irises! My heart leapt with such joy over six flowers of Iris Versicolor.

Irises in A Bottle

Look out upon the stars, my love,
And shame them with thine eyes,
On which, than on the lights above,
There hang more destinies.
Night’s beauty is the harmony
Of blending shades and light;
then, lady, up, – look out, and be
A sister to the night!
